Event description

2015 marks ten years since UWA  Professor Barry Marshall and his colleague, Dr J. Robin Warren, won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their discovery of the bacterium H. pylori and its role in gastritis and peptic ulcer disease.

To mark the 10th anniversary, the UWA Science Library will be renamed the Barry J Marshall Library to acknowledge Professor Marshall’s extraordinarily distinguished service to the University that merits recognition in the University’s history.

Professor Marshall is the University’s only graduate to have achieved a Nobel Prize.

He has brought extraordinary honour to UWA and the State of Western Australia by his unflinching dedication to research, which has resulted in one of the highest public honours that one could hope to achieve.

This event will celebrate the dedication of the Library to Professor Marshall.
