Sleep disorders are estimated to cost the Australian health system $5.1 billion annually with more than half of this cost associated with sleep apnoea.
In this public lecture Professor Peter Eastwood, Centre for Sleep Science will examine the causes of sleep apnoea, current treatments and the importance of the structure of the face, head and neck. In addition, Associate Professor Ajmal Mian, Machine Intelligence Group, will address a way of measuring facial structures, based on 3-dimensional deformable model fitting.
