In Western Australia, the prevalence of mental illness amongst those who encounter the criminal justice system is high. However, there is a lack of evidence regarding what constitutes best practice, what interventions are most effective and what works best for different groups (particularly, juveniles and indigenous people). This panel session will discuss the challenges and need for interdisciplinary research in this area.
*This panel session will be followed by an invited workshop, ‘Future directions: mental health and the law research in Western Australia’.
