Professor Kilburn studied planetary science and experimental petrology in the UK.
He is head of the Ion Probe Facility at UWA since 2006, which is the only lab in the world with 2 nanoSIMS and IMS1280 ion probe.
His research interests are multi-disciplinary and cover isotopes in minerals to labelled antibodies for immunohistochemistry, to nuclear safeguards for the IAEA.
