Tanyana is Manager of the Collaboration for Applied Research and Evaluation (CARE). Before joining the Telethon Kids Institute Tanyana worked in various roles within the Western Australian Department of Health.
CARE was established by the Telethon Kids Institute in 2000 to progress the translation of research into policy and practice and to conduct high quality policy and practice relevant research based on the priorities of the Health System. Throughout this time, Tanyana has provided research and strategic leadership to the CARE team made up of a team of highly competent senior researchers. She has led and contributed to numerous contracted research projects conducted by the CARE team. These projects have all had an applied research focus which means the outputs of the research have relevance to the development of government policy or can be used to inform service delivery.
The range of research topics that the CARE Team has conducted include research into trends in gestational diabetes, head injuries and burns in children; how child health services meet the needs of parents and families; research into ADHD, research into services for young people who self harm, as well as evaluations of a range of programs including: Play and Learning program, consultation process for maternity services in Western Australia; health services for homeless young people and a targeted early intervention parent support program known as the Building Blocks program.
She has also negotiated and contract managed more than $12m of contracts with the Western Australian Department of Health for the delivery of applied research projects. She is responsible for contract management and negotiation as well as ensuring that all outputs and performance indicators are met. She has good and sustainable relationships with a range of stakeholders including those within the Department of Health at a policy level as well as a practitioner level.
