Nicholas Bannan has contributed to the development of the field of evolutionary musicology that is defining and exploring the nature and origins of the capacity for music in our species.
He is editor of ‘Music, Language, and Human Evolution’ (Oxford University Press 2012) and author of articles in leading music and psychology journals on the phenomenon of singing and its role in human cultures.
