Professor Harry Blagg

Professor Harry Blagg is Professor of Criminology and Associate Dean (Research) at the Faculty of Law UWA. He specializes in Indigenous people and criminal justice, young people and crime, family and domestic violence, crime prevention, diversionary strategies, policing and restorative justice. He has over 20 years experience in conducting high level research with Aboriginal people across Australia (including urban, rural and remote locations) on justice related issues.

Harry is currently undertaking a 17 month study, supported by a grant from the Australian Institute of Criminology through the Criminology Research Grants Program, ‘Developing Diversionary Pathways for Indigenous Youth with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders: A Three Community Study in Western Australia’. This study will explore and map out diversionary alternatives and law reform options that will equip courts and multi-agency teams, partnered with community-owned and managed services, to construct alternative pathways into treatment and support. The research will be conducted in 3 locations in remote Western Australia: Broome, Derby and Fitzroy Crossing.
