Pieter Poot is a plant ecophysiologist from the Netherlands who arrived in Australia in 1998. His research has mainly focused on how SW Australian plant species are adapted to their local environment (e.g. shallow soils, drought, climate change).
Recently he has also developed interest in turfgrass research in relation to decreasing Perth’s domestic water use. He is a senior lecturer in the School of Plant Biology and coordinates the Conservation Biology major and the second year units ‘Global Climate Change and Biodiversity’ and ‘Conservation Biology’.
