Seyhan Yazar is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the Centre for Ophthalmology and Visual Science at the University of Western Australia and the Lions Eye Institute. She received a Bachelor Medical Science from the University of New South Wales, a Masters in Orthoptics from the University of Sydney and a PhD in Ophthalmic Genetics and Epidemiology from the University of Western Australia.
In her thesis, she investigated the genetic and environmental influences on ocular disease development and progression with a particular interest in myopia, corneal dystrophies and glaucoma through exploring datasets from large population-based studies including the Western Australian Pregnancy Cohort (Raine) Study.
Recently, she has been awarded with a NHMRC CJ Martin Overseas Biomedical Fellowship to undertake further research training in the UK. Her current research interests include computer programming, statistics, engineering sequence analysis pipelines and performing well-validated and reproducible computational eye research.
