There is an increasing need to view health, safety and the environment as a positive economic and social force that creates a productive advantage. Traditionally, safe systems were valued for their “preventative” role in reducing negative outcomes. Safety now includes health and the environment and has become an untapped source of advantage when it is also valued for its “generative” contribution to change and growth. The nexus of psychology and computer engineering will be discussed to highlight new technologies that can empower organisations to adapt, innovate, and perform at their highest level.
